Hands on DC works because of the dedication of thousands of people from across the area. Since 1994, more than 26,000 community members have had a great time spending a day with other energetic, committed people in order to make a difference in the lives of local students. They've also raised more than $500,000 for scholarships for deserving students.
Our volunteers come from across the community. We've had volunteers from major corporations like Verizon, from local schools such as Georgetown University; from church groups in the District and Virginia; and from government agencies. We hope you'll join us in planning our next event or participating on the day of the event.
There are several ways to volunteer listed below. Email volunteer@handsondc.org for more information or if you have questions. No experience is required! You can also come to the next Organizing Committee meeting to learn more.

We're looking for Team Leaders! A Team Leader is the liaison between Hands on DC and a group of volunteers. Team Leaders recruit a group of volunteers to participate at a school on the day of the Work-a-Thon. Team size is generally between 10-25 people, but we welcome teams of any size. As a Team Leader, you are required to attend one training session and are responsible for passing logistical information to your group. What do I need to do to be a Team Leader?
