Meet the Students
Linston Terry
Graduate, Morehouse College, Atlanta, GA
Linston Terry is a determined young man with a focused agenda. He graduated in May of 2002 with a double major in International Studies and Economics, and a minor in Spanish.
During a college tour in high school, Linston felt an immediate connection with Morehouse College. He spent one and a half years at Wesleyan College at Rocky Mount in North Carolina, where he served as Sophomore Class President and an R.A., and transferred to Morehouse with a 3.89 GPA.
Linston loved every minute of his college experience, and raves about the rich and diverse culture at Morehouse. As a primarily African-American all-men's school, Morehouse has been preparing young men for success since 1867, and is known for the "Morehouse Man mystique", a philosophy which challenges its students to develop strong character, so they can make the world a better place.
Many people positively influenced Linston throughout his life, including his high school Spanish teacher, Ms. Bennett, his 5th grade teacher, Ms. Jennifer Smith, who has since become a principal, and Brian Quevli, his College Bound mentor for three years. Brian, especially, was never too busy to talk with Linston and discuss his options. Linston also participated in Hands on DC for three years, volunteering and recruiting students from his school. He fondly remembers speaking on the Capitol steps during the opening ceremony of the event his senior year.
Linston thanks both College Bound and Hands on DC for helping him along the way.
