Meet the Students

Nicole McFadden

Eastern Senior High School, class of 2000
Junior-Norfolk State University

Nicole McFadden attends Norfolk State University in Virginia. She is majoring in Psychology and hopes to complete her M.A. within one year after graduation. Her goal is to use her Psychology degree while working with young children in teaching and counseling.

Nicole lives with her twin sister, Nicale, who also attends Norfolk State University and majors in Psychology. Nicole participates in the work-study program at her university and spends her evenings working in the school gym. She feels a need to have her voice heard, and is considering becoming involved in Student Government.

Nicole's older brother Cornelius, a 1999 graduate of Eastern High School, is a student at Lincoln University majoring in Chemistry. He first introduced the twins to the Hands on DC and College Bound programs. Mrs. Braxton, an English teacher who taught both Nicole and Cornelius, encouraged Nicole to enter the College Bound program. Loraine, who also mentored Cornelius, became Nicole's mentor for the remaining two years of high school. All three siblings participated in College Bound and received Hands on DC scholarships. Nicole truly enjoyed helping with the Hands on DC project at her school and appreciates the scholarship she received.
