Meet the Students

Vanessa Newton

Background:

Vanessa Newton was born and raised in Washington, DC, She attended Woodrow Wilson SHS and graduated in 2005. Vanessa is currently at the NC A&T State University where she majors in Psychology.

Vanessa and College Bound:

Vanessa joined College Bound in the 9th grade and was a participant at the Gonzaga site in NW Washington, DC. College Bound helped her to achieve her goals by helping her to better her writing, decide what college she wanted to attend and also by enhancing her social and networking skills. The scholarship she received helped her to pay for books, which she needs while she's in school.

Hands on DC:

Vanessa participated in the event in 2005 where she helped to clean up Cardozo High School. During that event, she was able to bond with other members of College Bound and also felt good about helping to make a more comfortable atmosphere for the students at the school.
