Leigh Egaas
Co-Director Hands on DC 2007
Leigh has been involved with Hands on DC for the past six years in a variety of capacities including as a Team Leader, Site Coordinator, Fundraising Committee member and co-chair of the Recruitment Committee prior to taking on the role as co-director of the 2007 Hands on DC work-a-thon.
Her interest in community service related to youth and education in conjunction with HoDC’s reputation as a remarkable volunteer organization contributed to Leigh’s decision to participate with the organization. She has volunteered also with a domestic violence shelter, tutoring programs, and youth mentoring programs.
Leigh currently works for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development located in the District of Columbia. As a former resident of the District of Columbia (currently living in the DC metro area), she brings to Hands on DC many years of experience, a life-long dedication to volunteer service and civic responsibility, and her belief in the importance of a healthy education system.
Originally from Knoxville, TN, Leigh completed a Bachelors of Arts in History at the University of the South in Sewanee, TN and her Masters of Public Policy at Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy (University at Albany, State University of New York).
